Fallout was a major project created by the University of Advancing Technology with the hope of tying a few of their degree programs together. I helped from day one to day done and was tasked with doing a little or lot of everything to ensure that deadlines were met. All in all I did 3D modeling, lighting, rendering, compositing, and matte paintings.
I started working on backgrounds and matte paintings. I was told to take some pictures taken around the Phoenix Metro area and “dirty them up”. I used Photoshop to destroy the images I was given and from there we put a filter over top of them. Below are the 3 major backgrounds used in the movie.
I was also tasked with creating 3D assets to be used in the movie. One major item that was motion tracked and set to be in a prominent effects shot was a knife thrown at a security guard. The other is a communications box used toward the end of the movie.
